Being parents we always want our children to be designated respectfully in the society and for that we build up dreams but i too agree that afterall it should be their final decisions, what to do and where to do? Parents should not be a hindrance. Our role should be to guide them and be their moral ladder with whom's support they gain the strength to rise high without any fear.

Definitely I agree each child is unique and we should help them grow in their unique way but can we leave them at their own mercy NO we should try to see their potential by introduciing them to all academic and co-curricular activities to see what they are good at. Many parents think no pressure means no studies........... NO PRESSURE does not mean no studies it means that we should watch them till an age and then see their potential and accordingly guide them.If at small age a child is an average student then later this child will be below average....... so work hard in pre school age on their studies as well as activities so that by middle school we know the capability of the unique child.

We all should join hands in spreading this beautiful thought that each child is unique, and no competition in life can judge you in comparison to others' when you are already the master of your own unique abilities and skills .

Beautifully written with exact words to explain the situation. I totally agree with Kirron. And the case study given here is happening everywhere. I really feel bad for those children rather than the parents.
Parents, please stop pressurizing your kid to get rank I, the ranks are not important. Give them space.

Isn't you feel happy when your article made to second place? So don't you think ranking would also make kids happy and encouraging?
But i take a point that the competition should be healthy...so why don't we rank a teacher rather than a student? Subject in which students produce high no of rank holders, those subject teachers must be appreciated and rewarded.
