Where last year Delhi saw celebrities like Mehar Bhasin, Ajay Jadeja and Rahul Dev, this year the Aviva Great Wall of Education kicked off seeing 2 bollywood superstars, Mithun Chakraborty and Raima Sen, visit the venue on the very first day of the event.

Mithun Da inaugurated the event by placing two books on the Aviva Great Wall of Education – Sach by Sachin Tendulkar and Stopper by Moti Nandi. We even asked him as to what was his fondest memory as a child, while he was in school, to which he replied saying that he was one of the most mischievous kids in his school and that he always gave his teacher’s a hard time. He even added a personalised message to his donation saying that “I hope whoever gets the book, ‘Sach by Sachin Tendulkar’ grows up to become a cricketer just like the Master Blaster himself.”

Even Raima had a very similar response to the question of ‘Her fondest school memory’. She said that even she was a very mischievous student who even after being mischievous was one of the favourite students of her teacher’s. The books that made it to Raima’s list of all time reads included Anne Frank’s Diary and Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi. Raima donated a total of 7 books to the Aviva Great Wall of Education including “The Great All-colour Dictionary” which she received from her mother Munmun Sen, when she turned 10, along with a message from her mother saying “For my baby with all my love. Please grow up to be clever. From Mommy.”
In the end, both the celebrities shared a common message asking fellow Kolkatans to donate more than 1,23,000 books beating last year’s Delhi record and helping even more underprivileged children receive an education.
