Hi , I am Mrs. Maya D’Souza and a mother of a five year old girl who is already very talented in drawing  whatever  comes to mind. Besides drawing my daughter  is good at mathemathics and logic. Her personality is assertive and simply does not believe in the impossible, but that there is always more than one way to solve a problem.

I have given up my career to give myself totally to the care of my daughter  because I realized how important it was to recognize her  capabilities and help her get better. My daughter  is now totally obsessed with drawing and goes crazy if she falls short of paper. She has got on to imagining stories and drawing out the story like in a story book. Loves to watch the cartoon serials on television and draws them out to form her own story.

I am mentioning all of this not to brag about my daughter’s  capabilities but to open the eyes of all us parents. To tell everyone that each child is precious and a shadow of ourselves sometimes. I don’t know which career my child will choose tomorrow but I am doing my best to recognize her talents and help improvise on them, to tell her everyday that she is good and back her up when ever  she takes part in competition.  I have recognized my daughter  has gone further than just drawing a picture, she draws a dialogue , a home, a situation, which means she knows what she wants and how to express it.

She is equally interested in playing online games, right from the age of two and very comfortable with using the laptop. Besides this she also loves to repair broken toys or assemble puzzles and show pieces.

The career  my daughter chooses tomorrow is totally her decision but I am already laying down the foundation to all that she is good at , so that when the time comes for her to choose her line of education her path is all planned and all she has to do is give it her best shot to prove her mettle.

I take this opportunity to pass the message to all parents that each child is unique and talented. Their brains are at an optimum when young can learn any language , grasp details and very very observant. Its us parents who have to give time and recognize the good in each child , encourage the good and channelise all their energy into perfecting their natural talent. I sincerely believe that everyone is blessed with atleast one talent . A child would be wasted if that talent is not encouraged somewhat like depriving a child of complete education. A talent wasted is intelligence denied to the enhancement of society at large, because this is where our great writers, artists and scientists came from , from children with a clear mindset.

Alas I conclude by saying I will do my best in laying the foundation to my daughter ‘s upbringing and await the day she decides her path. Whatever it may be I am sure she will make me proud.
